Create a 5x5 block table in your journal. Fill out the table with as many company logos as you can using the images below: Our ability to recognize abstracted logos simply through color and form shows how pervasive advertisements are in our culture and how we tend to associate colors with certain products or brands.

With your shoulder partner brainstorm ALL of the things you can think of that remind you of the color red. Create a comprehensive list! Today's journal is brought to you by the color RED!
Draw your outfit and color in FULL COLOR using colored pencils. After viewing the Power Point on color theory last class.
Use the color theory notes in your journal to describe the current color scheme you are wearing (if any). Use colored pencils to illustrate! An acronym is a word or name formed as an abbreviation from the initial components in a phrase or a word. Come up with 3 of your own acronyms for 3 of the following abbreviations: BLT TBA SCRAM CLOG NEATO DOODLE INC For example: ARC
Think of an physical item you can explain the attributes of... With a partner, describe that object in as much detail as possible. The goal is for that person guessing your object. For example: light brown, rough/ridged outside, small quarter-sized, boat-shaped, white inside, hard This conversation illustrates how difficult it can be to get ideas across to a viewer, listener or reader. In your artwork, it is important to think about how your art might be received by an audience.
In your journal draw what you think the item is and write down what that person was actually describing. Switch and do the same thing. In table groups, we will play the telephone game. Person 1 will think of a short phrase, write it on a piece of paper and pass it to their left. The following person will draw a representation of that phrase and continue to pass the paper in the same direction. The following person will write a short phrase that represents that image. The game will continue alternating image/writing until the papers have reached its originator. Look at the post-its in order! Do this 2x and keep your post-it for a grade. We all interpret and create images in different ways. It's important to think about how our artwork may be received by a viewer.
OPTION: Play telephone as a whole group. In your journal write down the starting word and the ending word. When artists draw with realism they are simply creating a complex optical illusion through the use of multiple techniques. Today in your journal we are going to create an optical illusion together from the images below: One famous optical illusionist from the 1960s was Bridge Riley who created the image to the right titled, Metamorphosis in 1964. Her illusions were created by the slight variation of shapes/lines over time.
Use 1 or 2 Point Perspective to create a 3D block letter version of your name. Follow the links below the images for tutorials on process. If you're really up for a challenge, try drawing a number of 3D shapes, letters and other items overlapping using 2 PT Perspective.
