Use the SCAMPER model to stretch your thinking about an object (of your choice). The final product of your brainstorm could look similar to the image posted below where you've drawn an image to correspond with each letter of the acronym: Art-making objects and materials are all around us; sometimes we need to alter the way in which we see these items to make and create!

Change your perspective by combining two different images or ideas. For artists this process is called juxtaposition. Artist/Photographer David Samuel Stern creates weavings with his digital photography to elicit new and interesting responses from his audience (see image below). Weave together two totally different found images:
Origami is the art of paper folding and can be used to create ornate animals or objects using Washi paper. Tear out a page of your journal and use it to CREATE a fortune teller. After your origami fortune teller is made USE IT to tell a neighbor's fortune. Keep this STAPLED to the next page in your journal for points. Also feel free to follow the link below for a video tutorial on how to fold.
Altering your process changes not only the way you create art but how you think about it as well. View the following video of artist Rusty Redfern to gain inspiration on new techniques to explore. In your journal draw and label a farm animal of your choice (with texture and detail) using only your FEET or MOUTH. Use the SIDE of a PEELED crayon to create a texture rubbing of your own shoe and another person's shoe in your journal. Use two different colors so you can overlap the images. London-based fashion designer, Luke Brooks created a line of clothing called "Epitaphs and Energies" which featured designs directly from 18th and 19th century gravestones. See the link below to read an article about the line's debut as well as the process for creating a rubbing.
Watch this video about a self cleaning room and complete a short, yet descriptive story board of events in the film. Use at least 5 frames to tell the story. Remember a story board shows music, transitions, camera angles, subject matter and more! Write the following list of requirements into your notebook for future reference. This will help you complete everything for your video:
Create your own Thaumatrope to combine two images into a scene using motion. See the tutorials linked below for further directions:
