In the next 2 minutes... Find a neighbor and tell them something that happened to you this morning, whether positive or negative. Now, don't you feel better. Sometimes we just need to express ourselves, complain, explain or exclaim! In your journal, write down a summary of what your neighbor said.
Artist Ji Lee started the Bubble Project by making thousands of speech bubble stickers which he placed on advertisements around New York City. This encouraged passersby to put in their own captions and interact with previously one-way imagery. The project is now world-wide, with a downloadable template provided online. Create your own "bubble project" by:
Create a 5 by 5 grid in your journal. With a shoulder partner, try to guess the company logo from the abstracted images below:
With a shoulder partner draw a portrait of a person by trading off drawings piece by piece. First Face Shape, then the Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Hair, Ears and any other details you all would like to add. The two images above were made by Pablo Picasso, a famous Cubist painter. To find out more about Picasso's life and works follow the link.
Create the first two section of a KWL chart in your journal. What do you already know about glass making or glass blowing? If nothing yet, what do you want to know about glass sculptures and their process? Complete the "L" for Learned in your KWL chart. What did you learn this class about Dale Chilhuly or Glass Blowing.
In table groups, we will play the telephone game. Person 1 will think of a short phrase, write it on a piece of paper and pass it to their left. The following person will draw a representation of that phrase and continue to pass the paper in the same direction. The following person will write a short phrase that represents that image. The game will continue alternating image/writing until the papers have reached its originator. Look at the post-its in order! Do this 2x and keep your post-it for a grade. We all interpret and create images in different ways. It's important to think about how our artwork may be received by a viewer.
OPTION: In your journal write down the start and end words for the class. Teach us how to draw something step-by-step.
Please break the drawing down into at least 4 steps. Think of something you know how to draw fairly well like Donald Duck, Daffodils, Dr.Dre, etc. GOLD: Draw or write about something that you're excited about for break PURPLE: Draw or write about something you did over break
