Use your printed school photo and newfound knowledge of zentangles or types of line to create a "bad hair day" photo! Try to fill the entire page with lines, patterns and designs. Laetitia Ky is an Iberian artist who make sculptures out of hair! One of her goals as an artist is to represent natural African beauty in hair. See her Twitter page and also the interview linked below for more information!
Japanese Artist Nagi Noda also creates interesting hairstyles using animals as her inspiration:

HOW CUTE IS THIS COW?! SERIOUSLY. Life is good. Baby animals are adorable.
Draw a baby animal in your journal for some levity. THEN GET TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY! Being perfectionists can leave us feeling paralyzed.
So we are going to spend the first 5-10 minutes this morning creating something PURPOSEFULLY terrible. Hopefully you will lose the fear of failing or falling short; this will make art more fun! Draw an eye or eyes in your journal (try to draw the image about the size of your fist).
After this check the board for the next steps on your independent project. |
