Look up a "how to draw" tutorial to complete in your journal. Draw the image step-by-step. Example: Turtle, Truck, T-Rex... and the list goes on.

Feel free to copy these notes into your journal for use on our Unit 3 test. Only copied notes may be used (NOT THE PRINTED SHEETS)!
This will also count as two journal entry grades. Tear a page? Don't shed a tear! Sometimes accidents are the best way to find or do something new! In your journal rip a page randomly and make the remaining page into an image of your choice. Bonus points for making the torn piece into something as well!
With oil pastels the pigment is suspended in an oil-based medium. As we know, oil and water do not mix. When you use the two together to create art, it is called a "resist". In your journal create an underwater scene using oil pastel and paint the ocean/sea floor with watercolor.
No pen? No problem! Artists get creative with the tools they use to make marks. Each tool has a different effect. Tape a feather to your finger and try to write the following sentence:
"My fine feathered friends flew westward for the winter" and/or draw a gaggle of geese or a murder of crows. Even when using a material we feel confident with, like pencil, we need to practice and hone our skills. Complete the half-page worksheet on Pencil Athletics and glue into your journal. Remember to practice the process, technique or material for your mini project thoroughly before starting on your final project.
Create a pop up card on the next page in your journal by following the illustrated steps below. Many tutorials exist online if you're interested in furthering your knowledge on how to create pop-ups. Matthew Reinhardt is a professional pop up book maker who has become internationally known for his wildly intricate projects.
