Artists use a number of tricks to create a sense of depth in their images. For example, objects get darker, less detailed and smaller as they go back in space. The illusion of depth can be enhanced by the use of perspective. One point perspective creates a tunnel-like viewpoint. Today in your journal create a labelled an image using 1 PT Perspective. This image, found at the St. Louis Art Museum is an example of how 1 pt. perspective can be used in an artwork.
